We don’t need to tell you that we have a lot of screen time. From TVs to computers, tablets to phones, we’re never far from that tell-tale blue light. But for once we’re not here to tell you to take a screen break (you can save that for the plane, eye masks: on). On the contrary, we’re here to tell you just how easy your digital journey at DXB can be. And in an age where contactless and social distancing are buzzwords, we think you’ll find this handy guide very useful indeed. So get ready to digitalise your pre-flight journey and relax.

Check in, from home…
Ready to make your journey even speedier? This summer thousands of travellers have been taking advantage of Emirates home check-in. Powered by DUBZ, dnata’s baggage technology and logistics company, the home check-in service is also available for customers flying with all other airlines departing from Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
… Or use contactless self-check in and bag drop
Emirates self-check-in and bag drop, which launched late last year in DXB, upgraded further this year, becoming touchless, for your smart contactless journey. There are 32 self-service bag drop machines and 16 check-in kiosks, which can all be controlled by personal mobile devices without touching the screens; providing a safe and convenient airport experience. Plus, there are now six new self check-in and bag drop kiosks in the First and Business Class area. The kiosks allow customers to check-in, receive their boarding pass, choose seats on board and drop off their bags. New services have also been added to allow passengers to make payments for other purchases, such as additional baggage allowance, directly at the kiosks. Some restrictions apply, so double check on your destination.

Prove your vaccination status with your Emirates ID
Don’t want to be carrying around heaps of stuff with you? Emirates IDs can now be used to show proof of vaccination at Dubai International when flying with Emirates Airline. An arrangement with Emirates and Dubai Health Authority means UAE residents don’t need to present a physical negative test certificate or vaccine card when checking in. Instead, you just insert your Emirates ID into a card reader when you arrive at the departures terminal.
Use your face as your passport
Dubai is pretty high-tech, and DXB proves just that. At Dubai International you can use integrated biometric path to breeze through DXB. Utilising the latest facial biometric technology, Emirates passengers check in for their flight, complete immigration formalities, enter the Emirates Lounge, and board your flight, simply by strolling through the airport. Easy.
