Live music sessions in an airport? This isn’t just any old airport – this is DXB, which runs its very own concert series at key travel periods throughout the year. And with the Eid break taking place this August, a celebration of regional talent is on the agenda.
It’s all taking place in the airport’s Family Zone, located in Concourse B, Terminal 3, and this month’s edition of musicDXB features Middle Eastern talent showcasing two very distinct styles.
Where previous editions of the series have seen everything from swing music to the likes of international recording artist Newton Faulkner livening up travellers’ journeys, the first act this month is Emirati jazz and pop performer Khalifa Al Naser.
A singer and guitar player, expect colourful covers of familiar songs, which Al Naser frequently fuses with his own unique twists. Catch him on Thursday August 8, where he’ll be playing from 11pm through to 1am.
The second act this month will be Syrian singer-songwriter Ghaliaa, a multi-instrumentalist and composer.
Born in Damascus, Syria, and raised in Al Ain, in the UAE, by the age of 20 the talented artist had released three singles. Influenced by country music, Ghaliaa’s sound incorporates R&B, pop and rock in tracks that tell stories of faith and love.
You’ll be able to catch her live on Monday August 12 from 11pm to 1am. It’s all part of DXB’s plans to bring both local and international artists to the airport.
