Travellers can fly directly between DXB and Chengdu in southwest China, thanks to the launch of a new service from Sichuan Airlines.
Despite its large population of 14 million, Chengdu is known for its laid-back atmosphere with plentiful green space, a relaxing teahouse culture and a vibrant nightlife scene.
As the capital of the southwestern China’s Sichuan province, Chengdu’s history dates back the 4th century B.C., when it served as capital for the Shu Kingdom.
It’s also home to the famous Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, a conservation centre where visitors can view endangered giant pandas in their natural habitat.
Sichuan Airlines, which operates into DXB’s Concourse D, offers travellers two weekly flights on Airbus A330.
The first flight of the new service, on 17 December 2015, was greeted with the traditional, spectacular water salute at DXB.
It’s another great addition to DXB’s connectivity, which spans 240 destinations across six continents.
