If your idea of a summer holiday involves total relaxation, then a visit to a luxurious spa will probably feature prominently on your to-do list. Luckily there’s no need to wait till you reach your destination.

With dark wood enveloping the floors and walls, sprinkled with beautiful Arabian-inspired details, XpresSpa feels like a sanctuary inside a five-star resort; except it’s located in a major international airport.

You’ll certainly lose all sense of place inside one of the four private treatment rooms. After sinking into the dreamingly comfortable massage bed, gently soothed by classic panpipe-based spa music (possibly a genre in itself), you could be lying beside a mountain in Bhutan or a beach in Bali.

XpresSpa’s private rooms are used for treatments such as full-body massages and facials. The latter is perfect for the summertime, firstly as it’s utterly refreshing and secondly, it’ll give you a healthy holiday glow; a bit like getting a tan without the sun damage.

During the treatment, your skin will be gently cleansed, toned, scrubbed, massaged, steamed, before being covered in a wonderfully cooling mask. If you’re travelling on a hot day, it’s as close as you’ll get to an ice cream for your face. Just lie back and let the therapist work their magic.

To experience total relaxation, combine a facial with one or two different massages – each treatment will flow seamlessly into the next. Your body and mind will be so at ease that you may even doze off into a blissful slumber.

Even if you have just 15 minutes to spare, you can still unwind with an express (maybe we should say ‘Xpres’) massage in the spa’s main area. There are also reclining leather seats for manicures and pedicures, along with a hair salon area and a brand new henna service. Whatever treatment you choose, you can be certain you’ll leave with your holiday mode switched on.

Three treatments to try at XpresSpa

Stress and tension eliminator (15 minutes)

The perfect pre-flight treatment, XpresSpa’s stress and tension eliminator begins with a head and facial massage to relieve sinus pressure, before moving to an energising neck and shoulder massage and finishing with a soothing arm and hand massage.

Seaweed facial (30 or 45 minutes)

Rich in vitamins and minerals, this special facial is formulated to regenerate and nourish dehydrated skin and is the ideal refreshment for a hot summer day. You’ll also get a relaxing face massage as part of the treatment.

Full body massage (60 minutes)

For the ultimate in head-to-toe relaxation, book a full body massage in the private treatment room. It focuses on releasing muscle tension by targetting deeper layers of muscle, making sure you start your holiday knot free.

XpresSpa is located in DXB Terminal 3, near Gate B21. Customers can reserve ahead, or walk-in for a treatment.
